STUDY OF CORRELATION BETWEEN DOWNSTREAM STRETCHES AS STUDY SITES IN HOOGHLY RIVER AND LEAD CONTENT IN SEDIMENT AND MUSCLE OF FISH SPECIMEN (Mystus gulio HAM. - BUCH.)

The present study was conducted to detect a correlation between Pb content in sediment and muscle of fish (Mystus gulio Ham. - Buch.) downstream stretches (three sites) the river Hooghly, West Bengal, India. sites were selected at Batanagar (Bt), Budge (Bg) Birlapur (Br) sites. samples viz. collected estimated by using atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Pearson coefficient analysis performed know association these as well during pre-monsoon season. observed both significant positive (P is less than 0.05) negative with Hooghly while (Pis than0.05) specimen gulio). findings pose risk accumulation may be lower due correlation, but lead harmful impact site for sediment. In future, this beneficial determine water quality status different stations other metals species.
